ShowerUp Chicago is a nonprofit in Chicago providing mobile showers for those experiencing homelessness.
ShowerUp serves those experiencing homelessness and anyone in need by providing mobile showers, hygiene resources, and personal care. It’s our goal to Shower Grace, Hope, and Love with everyone. ShowerUp is a non-profit organization. Our mission is to build relationships, restore hope and dignity, and show the love of God to those in need by providing them with shower services and personal care.
 
Inside the ShowerUp mobile shower units, guests will find private, comfortable “shower suites” with a clean shower and sink with plenty of hot water and whatever they need to Shower Up!
ShowerUp is a non-profit, 501c3 charity. We are supported through the gifts and donations of individuals, families, businesses, churches, and anyone who wants to Shower Grace, Hope, and Love.

We are looking for someone who has the heart of an entrepreneur combined with a desire to serve those in need.
If you are self-motivated, organized, personable, can be comfortable driving a truck and pulling a trailer, and can also be comfortable representing ShowerUp to donors, volunteers, community and church leaders, and other nonprofits, we would love to meet you.
 
The ShowerUp Chicago Regional Manager of Operations is responsible for overseeing and operating our nonprofit outreach and representing ShowerUp to donors, volunteers, and others. It is also responsible for managing a small staff.
 
This will include:
“Street Outreach” – The majority of this position is leading, coordinating and running ShowerUp serving events in various parts of the city. Requires a good knowledge of Chicago, experience working with the poor, unhoused/homeless, comfort interacting with and working alongside volunteers, etc.
 
Excellent organizational skills will be helpful. Plus, you will need to be comfortable driving a pickup truck and pulling a 20′ trailer (our ShowerUp mobile shower unit.)
 
Representing ShowerUp in a leadership role with volunteers, donors, community leaders, other nonprofits, and staff.
 
Experience and comfort interacting with people, an understanding and ability to present yourself well according to the circumstances, the ability to apply good leadership skills, and comfort talking to small groups of people.
 
There may also be opportunities to interact with donors/potential donors. Some of those opportunities will require appropriate dress/appearance, comfort with public speaking, and an understanding of ShowerUp’s culture, values, and mission.
 
Being the community representative with the media and potential constituents. This requires good communication skills, presentable appearance, comfort with sharing the ShowerUp mission and story, and portraying the values of ShowerUp.
 
Managing and maintaining ShowerUp equipment (pick up truck, mobile shower trailer, etc.), supplies (shower toiletry kits, socks, underwear, and other items we distribute), storage, etc.
 
Working knowledge of automotive maintainence needs, experiencing and comfort with towing a trailer with a car or truck, basic understanding of plumbing, and other general mechanical operations.
 
Organizing the ShowerUp Chicago schedule which requires interacting with various entities such as libraries, churches, nonprofits, businesses, and others to determine areas where ShowerUp may be able to schedule as a serving location.
 
Also maintaining the online calendar and volunteer resources and being the email and phone point of contact.
 
Strong organizational skills are required as well as strong communication skills. Much of these duties can be done remotely or at home.
 
This position does require a valid driver’s license, ability to be on your feet for at least 2 hours at a time, ability to lift 70 pounds, ability to go up and down steps unassisted, ability to work outside in cold or hot conditions for several hours, proficiency with social media, computers, email, etc., and good hygiene. It also requires the adherence, support, and representation of ShowerUp values, culture, and principles such as collaboration, excellence, honesty, stewardship, respect, etc.
